STUDIO POLICY 2015 - 2016
Our Philosophy: We believe in the power of music to enrich the lives of both children and adults. We also believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to develop their creative and musical abilities in a positive learning atmosphere. Group piano instruction has proven to be a natural and effective way to learn to play the piano and develop an appreciation for the beauty of music.
Our group piano lessons are formed by age and level compatibility, as follows:
|Music for Little Mozarts||Ages 4-5|
|“Way Cool” Keyboarding 4 Kids||Ages 6-9|
|“Way Cool” Keyboarding||Ages 10-17|
Any exceptions to age guidelines must be approved by school coordinator and teacher prior to enrollment.
Youth classes meet for 45 minutes lesson each week.
Adult classes meet for a 60 minute lesson each week.
Instrument requirements: While it is not mandatory to have an instrument in the home to begin lessons, we strongly believe that a well-tuned, quality, acoustic piano or quality digital piano to prepare for each lesson is critical for each student’s development. Because portable keyboards have proven to harm the technical and musical development of the beginning student, they are not recommended. If you do not have an acceptable practice instrument in your home, please inquire about our student piano rental program and starter pianos.
Drop-off/Pickup: Before and after classes, please make sure that your child does not run in the store, or crawl under pianos, as it is dangerous. Also, due to safety issues, we cannot allow children to leave the store unless accompanied by an adult. Thank you for your cooperation.
Attendance: Missed lessons should be avoided if at all possible to ensure the growth of the student and the teamwork of the class. There will be no adjustments in tuition if a student cannot attend, and there are no makeup lessons. If you do miss a lesson, the teacher will provide you with a copy of the lesson plan for the week, and may on occasion also include a video of new concepts being introduced. Please let your teacher know if you are planning to be gone, as there may be another class at a similar level that you could attend that week. Lessons cancelled by the teacher will always be made up.
Holidays/Vacation Weeks: The following holidays/vacation weeks are built into the schedule:
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Week
- Christmas/Winter Break
- Spring Break/Easter Weekend
- Memorial Day
Celebrations! Our Celebrations! are opportunities for students to share their music with family and friends in a friendly, supportive environment. Advance notice will be given of date and time to allow everyone to schedule this special event in their calendar.
Piano lessons are like a triangle--it takes three sides to make a successful musical experience. The student, parent and teacher must all work together; hence, cooperation and communication between all parties is essential. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns regarding the musical education of your student with his/her teacher.
Changing lives through the power of music.
